If only Ned had REALLY been told the truth. Though I wonder if Jon is Lyanna's bastard or true born son?

Myriddin chapter 1 . 11/1/2014
This was a lovely read. People do tend to criminalize Cat too much for how she treated Jon. I think if Ned had told her, she could have accepted it, and a scenario like this one could have been possible. But then, Jon wouldn't have been so eager to go to the Wall and we wouldn't have that part of the story. Thank you for sharing.

Liz chapter 1 . 1/11/2014
This story has great potential. What would happen if Cat knew the truth about Jon's parentage? I think she would be more of a mother to Jon just like at the end of this chapter. I always saw her cool behavior towards Jon as a terrible character flaw. He was just a child, don't blame him blame your husband. Yet she had no problem falling in love with Ned eventually. I think the real problem was mentioned, that Ned (being as honorable as he is) must have been in love with Jon's mother to be unfaithful to his new bride even though she was just a stranger to him at the time. That would insult and hurt most women.

The question now is, will Cat tell Ned that she discovered the truth about Jon when he was fevered? Or will she keep it to herself and let him think she's suddenly had a change of heart? On one hand she wouldn't have to make him feel bad because he unintentionally broke his promise to Lyanna. On the other hand the weight of keeping this secret has been tremendous. Now that Cat knows neither of them need ever mention the truth again, so no one finds out.

The part about Robert being furious if he ever found out about Jon is interesting. I don't know if he would see the child as a threat and want to kill him. The boy is Ned's nephew and the last piece of Lyanna either of them have left. So I'm not really sure he would want to harm Jon. Besides, during the Rebellion Robert didn't even want to be King - it was all about getting Lyanna back. Viserys and Dany are bigger threats than a bastard (unless Rhaegar married Lyanna in secret) who is being claimed as his uncle's son.

Love that Jon called Cat "Mama" and that she's okay with it. Of course he would want to call her that considering Robb does. It's lovely to see how close the boys are even at a young age. I imagine Cat's acceptance and new attitude towards Jon will change the entire family dynamic. The Tully's may come to view Jon as one of their own in time and should you decide to fast forward in time we will see him on the same standing as the other children. I wonder if Cat would even suggest Jon be legitimized. Some may think that's taking her kindness too far, but she's decided to be Jon's mother so he will have a close relationship with her (also if she didn't have anymore boys it would come in handy as they wouldn't want Winterfell to just go to whatever man/house their daughter marries). I can't see Cat being okay with Jon joining the Night's Watch now that he's her son. Also, she would be fine - probably encourage Robb to name Jon as his heir if he one day becomes King and has no children of his own.

Hope you put in more nice family moments and particularly Jon/Cat. Sorry for the long review but I wanted to share my thoughts and let you know I appreciate the time and thought put into your work. I'm looking forward to more.
