In Chesterton, Indiana, there lives 14-year-old boy named Basil Oakley and his mother. After the death of his father back when he was 7, Basil lived a sad and lonely life until he was given a magical fortune by the mysterious manager of a Chinese restaurant. The next day, the magic of the fortune he had read then turns him into an opossum and he ends up meeting and joining RJ.

Many changes have happened in the lives of the hedgies in the span of 5 years: marriages, parenthood, and a new sense of identity. However, not all changes are good and have given rise to conflicts among many hedgies, which impact the whole family. What sort of life challenges face the hedgies now, and will the love of family and friendship be enough to solve the dilemmas?

After the events of the Movie, life seems to go (somewhat) back to normal for the Hedgies. However, something sinister is coming, something that spells the end of the earth as we know it, and it seems to have something to do with... RJ and Heather? The patience and wit of the Hedgies will be tested, as the universe will be affected as well if nothing is done to stop it.
