When a roamer shows up with oddly familiar goods, Lina and Doon suspect that something is amiss. They learn about a legend that tells of a perfect city like those of pre-Disaster times, and of the roamer's more mysterious intentions. It will take every ounce of perseverance and wit they have to chase down what may be the biggest secret the Builders kept from them.

Successful Mayor Alice Harken agrees to be part of the US government's insurance against the future by leading a group of civilians to an underground city called Ember

Lina & Doon have 17 years and still live to Ember, the story centers on two main characters struggling with their emotions, feelings and e darkness is the only thing that terrifies them but will also be the thing that will make them closer.

Set during the epilogue of The Diamond of Darkhold, this story focuses on Lina and Doon as they face dangers from outside the town of Sparks, and are at long last forced to examine the relationships they have between each other.

Ember wasn't the only city the Builders created. There was another: the City of Starlight. The Starlight people had trustworthy mayors. Their Egress went as planned. They emerged into our world after 200 years, bringing with them supplies and food. They created their own City aboveground. What happens when their city is destroyed in Ember year 264 and they must seek a new home?
